Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church held its 66th annual Trash and Treasures on July 4th. Homewood residents and church members donated their used items to be sold at low prices. The church also served hundreds of pounds of barbecue.
Books for sale cost less than $1 and toys cost as little as $2. Patty Richardson bought a Coach purse, a box fan, a suitcase, a guitar and cloths. She said she saved approximately $300.
The sale began at 8 a.m. with a $5 admission fee. At 9 a.m., admission became free. The event also featured family games and prizes.
