Ward 4 Representative Barry Smith announced the new council member at the June 22 meeting, replacing former Representative Heather Reid.
After interviewing 11 candidates, Ward 4 Place 1 Representative Barry Smith announced at the June 22 council meeting that Alex Wyatt has been selected as the Ward 4 Place 2 representative.
Wyatt is a shareholder at Parsons, Lee and Juliano law firm and has lived in Homewood for 14 years with his wife, Megan and two children, Riordan and Ander. He received his law degree from the University of Alabama in 1999 and is a member of the board of directors for multiple Homewood organizations: the Homewood City Schools Foundation, the Homewood Athletic Foundation, and the Safe and Healthy Homewood Foundation.
“While Homewood – like any city – faces important issues and problems that will need to be handled in the coming years, I am confident that our city can continue to grow and flourish, and I would enjoy the opportunity to steer Homewood toward that goal,” Wyatt said in the application he submitted to the city.
Wyatt will be sworn in and take his seat at the next regular council meeting.
