Sims Garden resident caretaker Laura Rogers, Homewood City Council President Allyn Holladay and Southern Environmental Center Director Roald Hazelhoff were all instrumental in bringing the Edgewood community garden back to life.
A Market Day is coming to Edgewood. The Sept. 29 event will serve as a fundraiser for the Sims Garden, located at 908 Highland Road, and will last from 2 to 6 p.m.
Festivities will include apple bobbing and face painting for kids. Heather Hallman and Amanda Thames, both wives of city council members, will host a baked goods table.
Organizers are looking for vendors and talented residents to donate goods or a portion of proceeds from on-site sales. Home-baked sweets, craft and paper items, children's clothing and toys, candles, soap, fall produce, woodwork and art are welcome. Vendor committmetns are requested by Sept. 23.
Cash and check donations will be accepted at the event and are tax-deductable. Checks can be made out to Southern Environmental Center.
