On Aug. 23, Homewood voters will get to elect their 2016-2020 City Council members. The Homewood Star will provide weekly updates leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here’s the latest:
- Election qualifying is now closed! Here’s a complete list of candidates.
- Thomas Reid announced he’s seeking Ward 5, Place 2 seat.
- George Terry qualified to run in Ward 1, Place 2 seat.
- Ward 1, Place 1 Representative Michael Hallman announced his campaign against McBrayer for mayor.
- Andy Gwaltney announced his run for Ward 1, Place 1.
Other important information:
- Voters must register by Aug. 8 and regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18.
- The Homewood Star is sponsoring a City Council Election Forum on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 6:30-8 p.m. at Rosewood Hall. The event is open to the public and Jonathan Hardison from FOX6 News will be moderating. Email sydney@thehomewoodstar.com with questions for your city council candidates
- A runoff election, should it be required, will be held Oct. 4. Elected officials will take office Nov. 7.
- Pick up a copy of The Homewood Star's August issue to see profiles on all the candidates, plus information on where to vote and what to bring to the polls. The August paper should start arriving in mailboxes next week!
