ArtPlay Parlor Series: Choro de Lá pra Cá
to
ArtPlay House 1006 19th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama 35205
ASC’s ArtPlay presents Choro de Lá pra Cá! The group’s name means “choro from here to there” which represents a mixture of all the musicians’ backgrounds
– Diogo Guanabara on mandolin, cavaquinho and guitar, a specialist in choro; Caio Padilha on guitar, rabeca and vocals, from the Northeast; Julie Koidin
on flute, who is not only classically trained, but also a music specialist. This performance will also feature guest vocalist Camila Masiso. » The trio started when flutist Koidin visited Natal, Brazil, in 2014 in order to research contemporary choro. Choro is a popular Brazilian instrumental music genre that originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro. » The musical chemistry between
the musicians was immediate. Their connection shows in their unique music interpretation and the group’s own compositions and those of its contemporaries. A little bossa, samba, choro and jazz – all mixed together. » Don’t miss this special and cultural performance at our historic ArtPlay house!
