Roxane Jones’ love for design goes all the way back to her early years, when she would rearrange her parents’ furniture and surprise them with new floor plans — a habit she admits she did quite frequently. “Coordinating and placing things was natural for me,” she said. 

Today, as the Design Center Manager & Consultant at Nix Design Build, Jones’ passion has become her career. “We are a full-service remodeling and new build company specializing in design build project delivery,” Jones said. “We are changing the construction industry in Birmingham through strict adherence to our core principles of craftsmanship, integrity and value. Accompanying these values with a streamlined design-build process makes for the best customer experience imaginable.”

Committed to delivering the finished product that customers deserve while adhering to their budget, Jones said the Nix Design Build team is what truly sets them apart from other firms.

“Our team consists of highly dedicated and motivated individuals who believe in doing it right the first time to the highest standards,” Jones said. “Our craftsmanship is unmatched.”

Jones met Jeremy Nix, owner of Nix Design Build, over two years ago. 

“After spending time with him and his family and finding them a home [she is also a real estate agent at LAH Real Estate in Homewood] I soon learned what it was that set him apart — his faith and character, which are both very important to me, in that order,” Jones said.

Jones’ faith is important to her in her personal and professional life.

“After reprioritizing and understanding what works for a joyfully fulfilling life, I am dedicated to my career, but truly focused on God first, family second, and work third, and the blessings just flow without much effort. Just pure dedication from the heart and God does the rest.”

Jones considers balancing her blessings her biggest challenge — she is married to husband Ben, mother to their 3-month-old daughter Abbigail and their 2.5-year-old Weimaraner Max [their first baby], and a dedicated career woman and deeply involved at her church, The Church of the Highlands Grants Mill.

“Our new addition has been a huge blessing but the largest challenge balancing career and home,” she said. Jones is glad she lives in Homewood and is just 2-3 minutes from each of her offices.

“Today it is truly a miracle to be where I am in my life after being diagnosed with a lifetime autoimmune illness. I was barely able to get out of bed and walk seven years ago, and doctors felt there was no hope for my life. Today I am well and still able to keep up my careers and be a mother as well! I remain focused on the positive things my illness has brought into my life and understand God does all things for His glory.  Besides, it’s part of the journey of life that allows us to help others. We serve an awesome God who heals and empowers us to be the best at home, work and everywhere else He sends us. I have to give Him all the glory!”

The tight-knit team of four at Nix Design Build helps Jones with the balancing act, she said.

“We are there for each other in every way possible,” Jones said. “It’s fun, exciting, and super busy. We have learned a lot about each other and play well on using our strengths to grow our company to serve our clients better each day. It’s a blessing to be a part of this team.”

Jones is committed to the happiness of her residential and commercial clients.

“For all of our clients, happiness is my goal — well, actually, I like overly happy. Okay, I strive for ecstatic reactions. Frankly, I am all about making sure they love what they get.”
