Monty Stabler Galleries is holding a going-out-of-business garage sale this Saturday, July 27 following its recent closing due to the owner’s retirement. The event will be held at the gallery, 1811 29th Ave. S., from 8 a.m.-noon.
Seventy-seven-year old founder Monty Stabler decided to retire after 27 years of running the art gallery. Langston Hereford, the owner’s daughter, said her mother opened the gallery when she was in eighth grade.
“It’s been wonderful,” Hereford said. “I was raised here and my children were raised here.”
The store will reopen soon after the paperwork is complete for new management, according to Hereford. Hereford said the new owner in line owns an art gallery in Atlanta, Ga., and will rename the store.
